St. Julian’s, or ‘San Ġiljan’ in Maltese, is one of the most popular and touristic sea-side resort in Malta. This lovely town offers many restaurants, cafés, hotels, nightclubs together with pretty bays. Considered as Malta’s entertainment capital city, St. Julian’s becomes really lively during the summer.
- St. Julian’s Bays
St. Julian’s, ideally located along Malta’s coast, includes many pleasant bays: Balluta Bay with its magnificent Parish Church, Spinola Bay where Luzzus, the colorful Maltese’s boats, can be seen and St. George’s Bay. St. George’s Bay is the only sandy beach in St. Julian’s and therefore gets rather busy during the peak season. Make sure you go there early if you want to enjoy the sand!
These pretty bays are the perfect place to take a swim during the summer and water sports are also available there. So, feel free to enjoy a nice dive or to try adventurous activities such as Jet Skis or crazy Banana Rides.
If you raise your eyes up to the sky, you can’t miss St. Julian’s unique skyscraper: the Portomaso Tower, which is the biggest tower in Malta with its 98m tall! The tower is a business as well as a shopping complex. On its top stands a famous nightclub, the Twenty-Two, situated at the 22nd floor of the tower.
Another famous shopping complex in St. Julian’s is Bay Street. This modern structure provides international restaurants besides big shops of clothes, shoes or souvenirs. Bay Street Shopping Complex is located in Paceville, which is the most popular resort of the city, thanks to its animated nightlife.
St. Julian’s also holds several fascinating buildings including the historic Spinola Palace, built by Giovanni Spinola in 1658 and a famous casino in the impressive Villa Dragonara, from where spectacular fireworks can often be seen.
